Report on National Startup Day on16 January 2023

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram celebrated the ‘National Startup Day’ on 16 January 2023. IIC-JIM celebrated the National Startup Day with an aim to igniting the spirit of entrepreneurship among its students. National Startup Day is a day dedicated to fostering, celebrating and recognizing the contributions of start-up companies and entrepreneurs to the economy and society. As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared January 16 to be celebrated as ‘National Start-up Day’. Start-ups are going to be the backbone of new India. Celebrating National Startup Day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges that startups face, such as access to funding, talent and market opportunities. To celebrate the day, IIC-JIM organized a panel discussion on ‘Is Entrepreneurship a Journey or Destination?’. The discussion was organized in association with STEP foundation. The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Daviender Narang, Director of JIM. The moderator of the panel discussion was Ms Reinu Shah, founder of STEP foundation. The panellists were Ms. Shweta Verma (founder, Ginny’s Planet), Dr. Annie Theodore Co-founder, LOGOS Transformation), Dr. Kamalika Banerjee (Founder, The Light Mission), Ms. Karina Bhasin (Founder, Even Cargo). The panelists discussed various aspects, challenges of an entrepreneur. All the founders narrated their entrepreneurial journey and the obstacles they faced while ideating. They talked about how an entrepreneur should be accountable and be ready for the challenges s/he might face in the entrepreneurial journey. Ms Kanika Bhasin highlighted the role of a mentor for and entrepreneur. She talked about the importance of flexibility, adaptability for an entrepreneur. More than 150 students were present in the panel discussion. Faculty members present were Dr. Ashwani Varshney, Dean Student Welfare and President IIC-JIM, Dr Ajay Tripathi, Dr Nidhi Mathur, Dr Anubha, Dr Raj Kumari, Ms Guneet, Dr Akanksha Kishore, Dr Devi Archana Mohanty, Ms Surbhi, Ms Jahanvi. The panelists urged the students to become a job giver, not a job seeker. The celebration event was a successful one while strengthening the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem.
