On June 8, 2024, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, hosted a stimulating Model United Nations (MUN) event. The theme for this year’s MUN was "Unveiling Humanitarian Disarray – The West Asian Drama." The event focused on simulating the discussions and debates of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), providing participants with a platform to delve into complex global issues, particularly those pertaining to human rights.
Event Overview
The MUN aimed to develop participants' diplomatic, negotiation, and public speaking skills. The institute provided a conducive setting for the event, facilitating constructive discussions and interactions among participants. The event was organized by faculty coordinators Ms. Abhilasha and Dr. Devi Archana under the guidance of the Director, Prof. (Dr.) Daviender Narang. Senior students, including Mr. Bismay Dutta, Ms. Anindita Dandapat, and Mr. Utkarsh, mentored and guided the participants.
Participants and Discussions
Students from various departments participated in the MUN, bringing diverse backgrounds and perspectives that enriched the debates and discussions. The focus was on the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), a crucial body within the UN system responsible for promoting and protecting human rights globally. The committee deliberated on a wide range of human rights issues, spanning from civil and political rights to economic, social, and cultural rights.

The MUN provided an excellent platform for participants to enhance their public speaking abilities. Delegates delivered speeches, presented arguments, and defended their positions on various human rights issues. The valedictory ceremony saw the recognition of outstanding participants with awards for Best Delegate and Best Diplomat. Mr. Ankit was awarded Best Delegate, and Ms. Mansi was recognized as Best Diplomat. The judges for the event included Mr. Rahul Chakraverti, Media Veteran; Mr. Yash Sharma, Manager, HR, J-Pal; and Ms. Anindita, Finance Analyst, Ameriprise. They lauded the participants for their impressive performances and contributions to the event.
