On the 6th of September 2024, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad, organized an insightful session titled "Understanding an NISP and IPR Workshop." The session, conducted by Ms. Pooja Kumar, Founder of Innov Intellect LLP, aimed at educating MBA students about the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and their relevance in the academic and entrepreneurial world.
Objective of the Workshop:
The primary focus of the session was to equip students with knowledge about the various types of Intellectual Property Rights and the importance of protecting their innovations, creative works, and business ideas legally. This aligns with Jaipuria Institute of Management's commitment to fostering entrepreneurial thinking and safeguarding intellectual assets as part of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).
Key Insights from the Workshop:
Ms. Pooja Kumar, a Registered Patent Agent, led the session, breaking down IPR into key categories, including:
- Patents: Protection for innovations and technological developments.
- Trademarks: Safeguarding a business's brand identity.
- Copyrights: Ensuring legal protection for artistic and literary works.
Ms. Kumar shared practical case studies and real-world examples, highlighting the pivotal role IPR plays in protecting both individuals and businesses. She emphasized how proper IPR knowledge can benefit students in their entrepreneurial pursuits, academic research, and future business ventures.

This workshop proved highly beneficial for the 240 MBA students and 10 faculty members who participated. The key outcomes of the session included:

- Knowledge of how IPR can impact startups and innovation-driven businesses.
- Encouragement to explore securing IP rights for new ideas and business models.
