STEP (Shakti-The Empathy Project) in collaboration with IIC, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad organised a workshop on Design Thinking for aspiring women entrepreneurs on 29th September, 2022. STEP is an incubation program for women led early stage startups creating social impact. The event aimed at promoting empathetic community, capacity building, mentorship, role modeling and networking & funding opportunities. IIC at JIM continues to work on supporting new ideas, innovation which are not just socially relevant but also economically important. There were more than 50 participants for the event. The students were divided into small teams. They were instructed to assign a name to their group, identify a problem and come up with a feasible solution. The teams were named as Innovator, Creator, Dignitaries and so on. All the teams defined unique problems. Responsibilities of team members were distributed as time keeper, idea generator, note taker, speaker. The teams were encouraged to utilize their time so that they can deliver an effective presentation. The activity was concluded with an idea presentation by the groups. The student participants were excited and enthusiastic while getting actively involved in the activities. Two ideas were identified as commercial projects while two were having social angles after the panel review. Ms Ritu and Ms Amita were the experts on behalf of Shakti Foundation. Faculty coordinators present were Dr Devi Archana Mohanty, Dr Raj Kumari, Ms Surbhi, Ms Jahanvi. The event proved to be of immense help to students. The experts of Shakti Foundation helped the participants to create outcomes-based projects through creative thinking and analytical decision-making.
