An open house Debate Competition was held with the first-year batch 2022-24 on 9th September 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm. The judges for the occasion were Dean-Academics, Prof Vandana Ahuja and Assistant Professor, Jahanavi. The objective of the event was to express views and arguments for a certain topic, articulated in the form of debate. There were in all 17 participants in the first round and the topic to speak on was “Social Media enhances Human Communication”. An array of thoughts were presented by various speakers in their own unique ways in the form of favor and against of the motion. Students critically examined the way social media has impacted these young minds and what are the uses of this medium. At the same time, they were able to point-out the lacunas of this magnanimous concept. Very apt and relevant examples supported their arguments. Audience was enthralled to listen to such vibrant thoughts.
Out of the 17 students, 8 were shortlisted for the second round, for which the topic was Artificial Intelligence: A Boon or a Bane. It was again very exciting to hear the plethora of ideas articulated by the participants. Many of them were impromptu in their approach and took the liberty to speak their heart out. Overall it was overwhelming to see these young minds voice out their opinions with conviction. The winners of the event were – Ankita Mehra and Akansha Jha, second and first-runner up respectively. The winner of the competition was Ms. Nandini Saxena and all winners were presented with gifts and certificates.
