Yoga – A beautiful Mind in a healthy body!

Yoga is India’s greatest civil gift that exists with us dating back to 5000 years. The meaning of the word ‘yog’ is union with a higher consciousness. One of the oldest and purest forms of practice to blend your soul with your mind, eventually that rejuvenates your heart is from India. Jaipuria Institute of Management with an endeavour to propagate this legacy, today celebrated International Yoga day at its premises to nourish this ethnic tradition.

Yoga is of many forms which prevail in different parts of our country. It has significance in India’s culture and traditions irrespective of which religion you belong to or from which part of India you are from. It is widespread from a local village to a broad national level. This also includes a yogic influence on music, art, dance, science, philosophy, medicine, politics and economics, including the entire spiritual realm where Yoga always outshines. Skill in action, focus on sensitivity, the unitary path of energy, the fortitude of effort, and brilliance in achievement, along with inner equanimity and tranquil are all aspects of Yoga.

The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on 21st June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which finds it’s origin in India. The Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, in his UN address in 2014, had suggested the date of 21st June, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world. The first International Day of Yoga was observed around the world on 21st June 2015. The Ministry of AYUSH made the necessary arrangements and awareness in and outside India.

To spread awareness on the importance of yoga, JAIPURIA INSTITIUE OF MANGEMENT, Ghaziabad celebrated this event in which all the faculty and students with the well renowned Yoga Trainer Ms. KAJAL GUPTA ( Founder of Misaki classes for fitness and dance ) were present. The session started with chanting of OM and the trainer initiated the event with light asanas and took on to intense asanas like DhanurAsan.

Yoga also brings together physical and mental discipline so as to achieve a peaceful body and mind. It also helps in increasing flexibility, muscle strength and body tone along with improving respiration, energy and vitality. The practice of yoga is not just beneficial for the body alone but it also brings in alignment with the mind and soul through appropriate breathing.

International Yoga Day has been a global event which is now celebrated in the schools and every other gathering. Each year it marks an additional progress in spreading the practice and study of Yoga and its acceptance into schools, businesses and all walks of life, nationally and internationally. It is important to keep this impetus going as Yoga holds the secrets to the transformation of the human being to a higher level of awareness.

Yoga is the ultimate practice. It simultaneously stimulates our inner light and quiets our overactive minds. It is both energy and rest -Yin and Yang. We feel the burn and find our bliss. Today, at Jaipuria Institute of Management, we relished the vibrations of health and swamped in the light of Yoga at dawn!
