Solo Dance Competition at Mercato 2025 Celebrates Expression and Individuality at Jaipuria Ghaziabad

The Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram successfully hosted Mercato 2025, its annual inter-institute cultural fest, on 20 December 2025. Mercato continues to be a cherished tradition at the institute, bringing together students, faculty members, and participants from various institutions to celebrate creativity, innovation, and youthful energy.

Among the diverse range of activities conducted during Mercato 2025, the Solo Dance Competition emerged as a vibrant celebration of individual expression and artistic passion. The event provided a powerful platform for budding dancers to showcase their talent, confidence, and creativity through captivating solo performances. Each participant brought a unique style to the stage, transforming movement into storytelling and emotional expression.

The objective of the Solo Dance Competition was to encourage cultural appreciation, confidence building, and healthy competition among participants. By offering students an opportunity to perform independently, the event nurtured self expression, stage presence, and creative exploration beyond academic boundaries.

A total of 23 participants took part in the competition, representing universities and colleges from across the region. The performances showcased a rich variety of dance forms, including classical, semi classical, contemporary, and freestyle, keeping the audience thoroughly engaged throughout the event. Each performance reflected rigorous preparation, artistic discipline, and a deep passion for dance.

The competition was evaluated by an experienced panel of judges based on criteria such as choreography, expression, creativity, stage presence, technique, and overall impact. The judging panel included Mr. Akash Yadav, Director and Choreographer at New Rising Star Dance Academy, and Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Odissi Dance Instructor at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara. Their expertise ensured a fair and insightful evaluation process.

After careful deliberation, the winners were announced. Altaf from Sharda University secured the First Prize with a cash award of ₹3100, followed by Shubhangi Singh from Christ University as the Second Prize winner receiving ₹2100. The Third Prize was awarded to Sarthak Garg from ABES Engineering College, who received ₹1100. The winners were applauded for their exceptional performances and artistic excellence.

The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Sanandi Sachdeva, Dr. Muskan Bhatnagar, and Dr. Abhishek Kumar, whose efforts ensured smooth execution and an engaging experience for participants and audiences alike.
