3rd International Conference on Emerging Global Economic Perspectives

Jaipuria Institute of Management successfully organized its 3rd International Conference on Emerging Global Economic Perspectives at its Vasundhara Campus.

The conference was inaugurated with the welcome speech of Mr Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman, Jaipuria Group of management Institutions. He emphasized the need to discuss the economic perspectives that are emerging in the current globalised world and its associated impact. This was followed by the inaugural address by Prof (Dr) Daviender Narang, Director, Jaipuria Insitute of Management Vasundhara who highlighted how global economic recovery is vital as it is affecting the confidence of corporate across the world. He also stressed on the need for economic and financial reconstruction. The guest of honour was Prof B. B. Bhattacharya, Ex-Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The Keynote Address was given the chief guest, Mr Subir Gokarn, Former Deputy Governor, RBI. He specified that in order to workout strategies to deal with the challenges of present and future, such kind of conferences and that to at international level will be really helpful.

A souvenir and the conference proceedings were released in book, titled “Emerging Global Economic Perspectives” which was released by the chief guest of the event Mr Subir Gokarn along with Prof B. B. Bhattacharya, Sri Shishir Jaipuria, Prof. Daviender Narang and Mr. Vinod Malhotra.

All dignitaries released the souvenir and the conference book. Later as part of annual practice, top students of 2012-2014 MBA students were facilitated in a Jaipuria Academic Excellence Award ceremony. The first prize of Rs. One lakh was given to Mr. Uttkarsh Rastogi. Ms, Poonam Chauhan and Mr. Vikram Kumar Gupta received Rs. 50,000/- and 31,000/- cash awards respectively for securing second and third position. The vote of thanks was delivered was Mr. Vinod Malhotra, Director, Corporate Relations, Jaipuria Group of Management Institutions.

The International conference had three technical sessions. The first technical session on “Emerging Global Issues and Challenges and its Impact on Inclusive Growth” highlighted the Indian foreign trade in specific sectors, link of behavioural science and economics, issues pertaining to rural growth and marketing. In addition, other eminent speakers presented their papers on various critical issues regarding risk management, growth prospects of in emerging markets, strategic linkages between HRM and organizational performance, relation of pricing and consumer perception in telecom industry and sustainability factors in Indian economy. Besides these, there were quite a few research papers on banking industry with relation to accounting standards, strategies to deal with ever increasing levels of non-performing assests in commercial banks and prospects for Indian economy for the prime minister‟s „Make in India‟ campaign.

The second technical session post lunch on “Emerging trends in Global economy: Mapping the way ahead” highlighted issues in digital world in India. There were papers on burgeoning areas like pricing practices on E-commerce, corporate and social media, cashless transaction and others. Besides these, some of the other themes covered were social entrepreneurs, women‟s empowerment, HR practices in non-profit organizations and challenges in Indian Higher education.

Later on Dr Daviender Narang, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management epitomized the proceedings of the conference and highlighted the significant recommendations given by participants and eminent personalities from academia and industry. The valedictory speech was given by Prof. (Dr.) Daviender Narang, director, Jaipuria Institute of Management He specified that this international conference has bought together the pool of talent and the technical sessions have stimulated the thought process in relation to the Emerging Global Economic Perspectives. He also said that these brainstorming sessions will definitely give way to the future research and development in the related issues and to come out with distinctive and concrete measures for a sustained and inclusive growth.

The International Conference was successfully concluded by felicitation of participants with the certificates and the best paper award to the best research paper presenter.

The event was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Daviender Narang, Dr. Ashwini Varshney, Dr. Anil Gupta, Dr. Ajay Tripathi, Dr. Rajni Singh, Dr. Mamata Kumari and Mr. Neeraj Dangi with active participation of other faculty members, staff and MBA students alike.
