IP UTSAV 2025: Day 3 Highlights – "Copy That! Copyrights Uncovered"

On April 23, 2025, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad continued its celebration of IP UTSAV 2025 with Day 3 under the theme "Copy That! Copyrights Uncovered". Organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), the session focused on raising awareness about copyright laws, rights of creators, and enforcement mechanisms both in India and globally.

Objective: The session aimed to:

  • Strengthen understanding of copyright as a legal tool for safeguarding literary, artistic, and digital works.
  • Explore national and international frameworks governing copyright protection.
  • Emphasize the importance of author rights, content originality, and legal enforcement mechanisms.
  • Promote respect for copyright in building sustainable creative economies.

Session Highlights

The session featured two esteemed speakers who shared critical insights on the evolving landscape of copyright law:

Ms. Anooja Padhee

  • Partner at K&S Partners
  • Specializes in trademarks, copyright, and geographical indications

Ms. Padhee discussed the management of IP portfolios including prosecution, enforcement, and legal procedures related to infringement and opposition. Her session also delved into drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, offering students a real-world view on managing creative assets effectively.

Dr. Hemant Khosla

  • Deputy Registrar of Copyrights, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry

Dr. Khosla provided an in-depth analysis of the copyright registration process, authors' rights, and enforcement avenues under both Indian and international legal frameworks. His experience offered a comprehensive understanding of how copyrights contribute to innovation ecosystems.
