Innovate, Invent, Protect: NISP and IPR Workshop at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad

On 28th August 2025, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad, under the aegis of its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized a highly engaging workshop titled “Innovate, Invent, Protect: Understanding NISP and IPR.” The two-hour session aimed to strengthen MBA students’ knowledge of the National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), highlighting their practical applications in academic and entrepreneurial contexts.

Workshop Highlights: The resource person, Ms. Shweta Pandey, Advocate, shared her expertise on IPR, corporate advisory, and startup compliances. She explained:

  • Patents – securing innovations and technological advancements.
  • Trademarks – safeguarding brand identity and customer trust.
  • Copyrights – protecting literary and artistic works.

To make the session more impactful, Ms. Pandey shared real-world case studies, illustrating how organizations and individuals leverage IPR to protect their ideas and create market advantages.

She also emphasized the importance of IPR awareness for MBA students, particularly in research projects, academic work, and entrepreneurial pursuits. The session demonstrated how legal protection of ideas, innovations, and products can help ensure recognition, ownership, and long-term success.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students learned to differentiate between patents, trademarks, and copyrights and their business applications.
  • They gained awareness of NISP frameworks, encouraging innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
  • The session empowered students to approach innovation with a legal and strategic mindset, preparing them to protect and commercialize their ideas effectively.

With participation from 234 students and 16 faculty members, the workshop proved to be a valuable addition to Jaipuria’s continuous efforts in fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
