First day at Tata Global Beverages

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

There’s no experience like on-the-job training. Apart from gathering theoretical knowledge from the college, internship at Tata Global Beverages, I have started to gain a good insight in to how the industry works already.

I would like to thank JAIPURIA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, GHAZIABAD and Dr. I.B.Singh for providing me internship at such a renowned organization.

Tata Global Beverages Limited (formerly Tata Tea Limited) is an Indian multinational non-alcoholic beverages company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India and a subsidiary of the Tata Group. It is the world’s second-largest and India’s leader manufacturer and distributor of tea and a major producer of coffee.

It’s culture is driven by 5 core values that are guiding principles for the entire organization.

  • Accomplish with agility
  • Consumer centricity
  • Lead by innovation
  • Collaborate to succeed
  • Doing good

I stepped into Tata Global Beverages on my first day not knowing what to expect. This was my first internship in the real world. There I met Miss. Simpi Singh, Brand Development Manager and my mentor. She handed over me 3 projects which consisted of product promotion and business development of a newly launched pack of Tata Select Tea and a drink named Fruski in Educational, Corporate and Health care sector all over Noida and Greater Noida.

At the first instance I was pretty much worried if I would be able to complete it in two months, but I really liked the kind of work I am going to do and the level of enthusiasm my manager showed towards me, so I decided to take up the challenge without any further queries.

Right after my manager briefed me about the project, I was guided by Mr Ahmad Raja, Sales Executive. The field was open and I was asked to play as I like. The entire projects were to be owned and executed by me.

Not many interns have the opportunity to work so closely with clients and gain first-hand experience, but I was lucky enough to walk into a world of opportunity.

During my internship I will be able to develop professionally as well as personally. Of course it’s a great resume builder too; but I think it becomes much more than just a line item on the resume.

Till now I gained an abundance of valuable understanding for this field of work which will stay throughout my life and encourage me to keep learning.

“There is divine beauty in learning. To learn means to accept that life did not begin at my birth, others have been here before me, and I walk in their footsteps.”
