The Marketing Research Club at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organized the workshop “Effective Sales and Marketing Strategies for Start-ups” on 14 February 2026. Held in classrooms SF 204 and SF 216, the event brought together students to step into the shoes of startup founders and develop practical, creative marketing strategies.
A Strategy-Driven Workshop for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
The workshop was structured as a competitive, strategy-driven event designed to challenge students to think like entrepreneurs. Each team was randomly assigned an innovative startup concept and tasked with developing a comprehensive marketing and sales strategy. The event was divided into three engaging rounds:
- Startup Strategy Lab
- Surprise Strategic Challenge
- Founder Pitch Presentation
The teams were required to identify target markets, create compelling value propositions, allocate marketing budgets, and build practical sales models. Students also had to justify their strategies using research and data logic, ensuring their approaches were grounded in real-world viability.
In the final round, teams pitched their strategies to a panel of judges. This session included a Q&A round, where judges assessed the clarity, feasibility, and depth of the strategies presented.
Collaborative and Creative Problem-Solving
The workshop emphasized teamwork, as students worked collaboratively to develop innovative zero-budget guerrilla marketing ideas. This hands-on approach encouraged participants to think creatively while considering the resource constraints typically faced by startups. The exercise also helped students strengthen key entrepreneurial skills such as
- Strategic thinking
- Competitive differentiation
- Problem-solving
- Persuasive communication
Through live pitching, participants honed their public speaking abilities and learned how to present their ideas confidently to a professional audience.
Learning Outcomes
The workshop provided valuable learning outcomes for all participants. By the end of the session, students were able to:
- Design integrated marketing and sales strategies that align with startup goals and constraints
