IIC Organizes Problem Solving and Ideation Workshop to Foster Creativity and Design Thinking

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad organized a highly interactive Problem Solving and Ideation Workshop on 25th October 2025 in Classroom FF102. The four-hour session, coordinated by Dr. Smita Agarwal and Dr. Namita, was designed to strengthen students’ creative problem-solving, teamwork, and design thinking abilities through an experiential learning approach.

The workshop introduced students to the Design Thinking framework — Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test — explained through an engaging example of Designing a Cake by Dr. Smita Agarwal. This simplified yet powerful demonstration helped students understand how empathy and ideation can lead to practical innovation and meaningful outcomes.

To apply these concepts hands-on, ten student teams were challenged to design and construct functional bridge structures using only newspapers, glue sticks, tape, and scissors. The goal was to balance functionality and aesthetics, fostering innovation within limited resources. The activity tested participants’ creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative skills as they worked to build sturdy yet visually appealing structures.

Each team’s model was evaluated based on strength, stability, and appearance, encouraging a holistic approach to innovation that merges practicality with design. The workshop provided a vibrant environment for experiential learning, where students could translate theoretical knowledge into tangible outcomes through teamwork and resource optimization.

The event successfully promoted innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving—skills that are vital in entrepreneurship and management. With 40 students and 2 faculty members actively participating, the workshop reflected Jaipuria Institute of Management’s commitment to nurturing future-ready leaders who think creatively and act purposefully.
