The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad, organized an online expert session on “Accelerators & Incubation Opportunities for Students, Faculty and Early-Stage Entrepreneurs” on 25 July 2026. The webinar brought together around 180 MBA students to explore the startup ecosystem, incubation opportunities, funding mechanisms and government support available to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The session featured Mr. Anurag Tiwari, TBI Manager at NIET Technology Business Incubator Foundation, who shared practical insights into startup incubation and the journey of transforming an innovative idea into a business venture.
Understanding the Startup Ecosystem
The session was designed to familiarize students with the different stages involved in taking an innovative idea towards a startup venture.
It introduced participants to the broader startup ecosystem and explained how incubators, accelerators, government initiatives, investors and other ecosystem stakeholders can support entrepreneurs at different stages of their journey.
The discussion also created awareness around startup registration, DPIIT recognition, funding opportunities and government initiatives, giving MBA students a broader understanding of the resources available to early-stage entrepreneurs.
Introducing IIC and Entrepreneurship Opportunities
The expert session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Namita Nigam, who introduced the Institution’s Innovation Council and highlighted its objectives.
She emphasized the relevance of innovation and entrepreneurship for MBA students and introduced the resource person, Mr. Anurag Tiwari.
The opening set the context for a discussion focused not only on understanding startups but also on encouraging students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities during their management education.
From an Innovative Idea to a Startup Venture
During the webinar, Mr. Tiwari explained the concept of startups and discussed the stages involved in transforming an idea into a business venture.
A significant part of the session focused on understanding the distinct roles played by incubators and accelerators.
Students learned how incubation centres can provide entrepreneurs with an ecosystem of guidance and support, while accelerators can contribute to the growth and development of ventures at different stages.
This enabled participants to understand where aspiring entrepreneurs can seek support as they move from ideation towards execution and growth.
Startup Registration and DPIIT Recognition
The session also covered important aspects of establishing and formalizing a startup.
Mr. Tiwari discussed startup registration procedures and DPIIT recognition, giving students insights into the formal processes associated with India’s startup ecosystem.
The discussion enabled participants to better understand how government-backed frameworks and initiatives can become relevant when developing an entrepreneurial venture.
Exploring Funding and Government Support
Funding was another important area covered during the expert session.
Students were introduced to different funding mechanisms and opportunities, including government schemes, grants, venture capital and CSR funding. The discussion also covered investor pitching and the role it plays when entrepreneurs seek external financial support.
These insights provided students with a broader understanding of the different avenues that entrepreneurs can explore while developing and scaling their ventures.
Intellectual Property and Incubation Support
The webinar also addressed Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and the various support services offered by incubation centres.
Understanding intellectual property is particularly relevant for innovators and early-stage entrepreneurs developing new ideas, products or business solutions.
The session enabled students to see incubation as more than access to infrastructure. It highlighted the wider ecosystem of guidance and support available to entrepreneurs while developing their ideas and preparing them for the market.
An Interactive Q&A with More Than 60 Questions
One of the highlights of the webinar was the highly interactive question-and-answer session.
Students participated enthusiastically, raising more than 60 questions related to startups, incubation, funding, registration and entrepreneurship.
The Q&A session was handled by Dr. Smita Agarwal, ensuring that student queries were addressed by the resource person. Dr. Devi Archana Mohanty also facilitated students’ questions during the interaction.
The level of participation reflected students’ interest in understanding the practical aspects of starting and developing entrepreneurial ventures.
Strengthening Entrepreneurial Awareness Among MBA Students
The session enhanced students’ understanding of the startup ecosystem, incubation support, government initiatives and funding mechanisms.
It also encouraged participants to explore innovative business ideas and consider how incubators, accelerators and government support could contribute to transforming entrepreneurial aspirations into viable ventures.
By connecting management students with an expert from the incubation ecosystem, the webinar provided practical perspectives that complemented their academic learning.
Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jaipuria
The session was coordinated by Dr. Namita Nigam, Dr. Smita Agarwal and Dr. Devi Archana Mohanty as part of the Institution’s Innovation Council initiatives at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad.
