He has a vast exposure to management education in India and abroad through his stints with H.P.University Simla,Punjabi University Patiala, Apeejay Group of Institutions, IMS Group Paris Graduate School of Management, Paris and more than 20 European universities.

He completed his schooling in 1967, Honours in Economics in 1969 and post graduation in Economics 1971 with meritorious positions from Panjab University Chandigarh.

During his academic journey, he dedicated himself to teaching and research in Management, by attaining a masters degree in management, completing his own Ph.D and guiding research scholars in diversified areas in public policy.

His Ph.D. Thesis on Monetary Policy and Inflation in India� was highly commended and published through the grant of UGC. He has authored two reference books in Economics and has edited two books and a set of 15 volumes on various aspects of economic policy.

His areas of specializations are Economic and Business Policies.

We witnessed yet another season of successful placements with the batch of 2012 securing excellent jobs in some of the renowned organizations. Some of them are:

There were sessions on different areas by eminent personalities from industry and academia.

A session on enhancing communication efficacy and personality development was conducted by Liqvid Communication.  Later Ms. Poonam Kakkar from Science of Spirituality Group conducted a workshop on Academic Excellence through Meditation making the students understand the importance of meditation and how to meditate effectively to enhance concentration. This session was followed by an enriching session by Mr. Vinod Malhotra (retired IAS) on Human Values & Ethics wherein he made the students aware about the importance of ethics in different functions of management. There were sessions by faculties of the institute also on different areas such as e-Skills by Dr. Ajay Tripathi where students were appraised on IT Skills, Marvels of Management by Mr. Anubhav Varma to appraise students on biographical background and contributions of significant management thinkers and Placement Talk by Mr. Ravi Ranjan. Group activities were also conducted by new students under guidance of their seniors, Ms. BhavnaMalik(Faculty) and Ms. Sunita Choudhry(Faculty), finally prize distribution was done by Prof.(Dr.) Daviender Narang(Director) with a best of luck note for the new students. Dr. Ashwani Varshney and Ms. Ruby Bhatia the event co-ordinators concluded the session with a vote of thanks.

Students at the JIM, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad celebrated teachers' day with full excitement and zeal at its campus. On this occasion special programmes were organized by the students to express their gratitude and respect for their mentors and teachers. Students welcomed their teachers with flowers and gifts as a token of their love and admiration to their teachers.

Fresher’s Party with the name “Khushamdeed” was organised on 6th Oct 2012(Saturday). This event was very successfully organized by students of II year under the guidance of Dr Charu Yadav, Ms. Najaf Shan, Ms. Bhavna Malik. Various cultural programs were organized by students but the main event of the party was Mr & Ms Fresher’s, Pratham Srivastava and Prachi Chaudhary were bestowed with this honour.

Final Round of OBL Group Presentation Competition was organized for MBA Batch 2012-14 on 12th October’12 in the campus auditorium. Six teams of students were selected from 27 teams in the First Round of Presentations on 29th September’12. All the teams put in their best effort to win the competition. The judges for the event were Dr Ashwani Varshney, Ms Ruby Bhatia and Dr Prachi Mishra. The proud winners were the Eicher Group (Section A) GE Motors (Section B) and Asian Paints (Section C). Dr B.S Bedi and Dr D. Narang , Director, JIM awarded all the winners and congratulated them for their sincere efforts.

The encouragement by faculty members boosted the morale of all students further. The event was coordinated by Ms Shikha Singh with the cooperation of students and faculty members.

Sessions were taken by resource persons from different business schools. Dr. Rajendra Nargundkar from IMT, Ghaziabad, provided insights on the conceptual framework of Research Design and essential elements of a good questionnaire design. Prof. Asif Zameer from Fore School of Management provided a detailed understanding of Sampling Techniques and Hypothesis Testing. Prof. O. P. Wali from IIFT, New Delhi explained on different data analytical tools and techniques with the participants. The last two days of the programme had exclusive sessions on application of SPSS 20.0 which was conducted by statisticians from SPSS.

All the dignitaries appreciated Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad by stating that this FDP will prove to be an excellent endeavor made by the institute. At the end, Prof. (Dr) Daviender Narang, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad extended his heartiest thanks to all delegates and dignitaries for making this event a grand success.

Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad organized guest lecture on “Expectations, industry has from new recruits and what competencies one should have?” on 18th February 2013. The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Pradeep Gulati, HR Manager, Cent Percent Media Solutions Private Ltd. Mr. Pradeep discussed certain HR Formulas with respect to the various challenges upon employability and Industry Interface during the discussion with the students.

On 9th February, 2013 an interclass Business quiz competition was organized in the campus for MBA Batch 2012-14 students. There were 09 Teams in each section who competed hard to be a winner. There were five Rounds of questions related to General knowledge, identification of logos & personalities, punch lines of businesses etc. The Judges of the event were Dr Prachi Mishra, Ms Sunita Chaudhry, Dr Charu Yadav, Dr Neelu Tiwari, Mr Anubhav Verma and Dr Mamta Kumari. The highest scoring team was declared as a winner in each section by the Jury.

The Prize distribution ceremony was organized on 22nd February, 2013 in the auditorium. Dr B.S Bedi gave the Certificates to the winners and congratulated all students for their sincere efforts. He stressed on the importance of extra-curricular activities which truly provides a platform to our budding managers to develop team spirit and leadership qualities and become successful professionals. The event was coordinated by Dr Shikha Singh with the support of faculty and staff members.

VIP Industries was established in 1971 under the flagship of Dilip G Piramal Group. VIP’s product is divided into two cate-gories premium and popular, which includes a variety of hard and soft luggage. VIP manu-factures suitcase, briefcase, travel bag, sky bag, strolleys, Aristocrat luggage etc.

On 9th March, 2013 students of first year went for an industrial visit at VIP Industries Limited, SIDCUL, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. At the manufacturing plant a presentation was given by the Sr. Manager – Human Resources Mr. Vi-jayant Kumar VIP Industries Limited.

The students were accompanied by faculty Dr. Prachee Mishra, Dr. Charu Yadav, and Prof. Anubhav Varma. The first round of visit was into the main manufacturing unit. The students were exposed to the overall process of manufacturing, dye casting, assembly, the quality checks and later the final product. The second round of the visit was led by Mr. Nishant which showcased their latest innovative and premium product - the Verve range. Industrial visit to VIP Industries Limited was really an enriching and learning experience.

On 12th April 2013, Friday, the Marketing Club of JIM named Trendsetters had organized an event in which the students had undergone hands on experience on Selling, Marketing, Advertising, Branding and Promotions of various goods and services. In small groups, the students of 2nd semester, catered to the needs and requirements of the various customers who visited their stalls. The counters were decorated with the information about various products which the students promoted and sold. The consumers experienced a blast upon Music, Games, shopping and fun unlimited!

A grand farewell party was organized at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Ghaziabad on Sunday, the 5th May, 2013. The party was given by MBA students to bid adieu to final year students. Spirits soared high as all the students of MBA jointly participated in the party making the environment thoroughly charged with energy and enthusiasm.

The party started with the lightning of the lamp by respected Dr. Daviender Narang, Director of the Institute. Thereafter, a number of colourful events like Saraswati vandana, Band performance, Guiter performance, Group Dance, thoroughly entertained the audience. The interesting and funny titles were given to every Final year student alongwith gifts as a token of love.

On the basis of overall performance, appearance in activities & question-answer round, Virkamjeet as “Mr. Farewell and Archana as “Ms. Farewell”, Varun Dagar was selected as as “Mr. Perfect” and Uplabdhi was selected as as “Ms. Perfect”, Abhit Srivastava was selected as “Mr. Versatile” and Priyam Rajpoot was selected as “Ms. Versatile”. Students had great fun dancing merrily on the dance floor together. They took great care of entertainment, hospitality and discipline aspects at the function.

At the end, Final year students profusely thanked JIM for fulfilling all the expectations that they had from this institution when they joined it with the dreams of becoming skilled managers and good human beings. They said JIM completely fulfilled all the commitments for their all-round development & especially regarding their placements. Director Dr. Daviender Narang conveyed his best wishes to the final year students and said that it is up to the students to carry on the flame of knowledge & wisdom kindled in their hearts by their teachers at JIM.

There were six participating groups of MBA 2nd Semester students who focused on societal problems in a very cohesive manner through their stage performances. The winner group Aakrosh highlighted the truth behind naxalism and the condition of Indian soldiers in naxalite area. Comet group highlighted the importance of safety rules which are commonly overlooked by the public. The Cracker group highlighted the importance of education and women empowerment. Dazzler group emphasized on the need of reforms in present education system while Kites group raised a strong voice against female infanticide.

The program concluded with prize and certificate distribution by Prof.(Dr) Daviender Narang to the winning and participating teams. The jury members for the event were Dr. Ashwani Varshney, Dr. Neelu Tiwari and Dr. Prachee Mishra. The event was organized by Dr. Shikha Singh and was a great learning experience for all.

On the 12th March 2013, the MBA, First year batch got to interact with Mr.Faizan Rasul, Zonal Head - Sales, Timesjobs.com, Noida. He spoke to the students upon their career spanning over “From Campus to Corporate”. Mr.Faizan who had around 12 years of corporate experience simply justified and clarified the reasons to the students how its easy to get a job but a lil difficult to maintain it. Certain tips were shared to build the confidence of the students for searching and applying for jobs freshly. Students greatly appreciated the topic and happily applauded to welcome him answer certain doubts, queries or reservations that they might have had. It was an open discussion wherein the major concerns from the field were discussed.

Background

JIM in its constant endeavor to improve management skills has initiated this movement to improve the quality of research. The five days (10-14th July, 2013) faculty development programme on "Advance Research Methodology and Data Analytical Tools" has been scheduled keeping in view the need among academicians, researchers and consultants to strengthen their research skills. The present programme is designed in such a way so as to give exposure to the participants about research problems formulation, application of appropriate research design and skills of data generation, data processing and statistical analysis at both basic and advanced level.
